Viper Floor Scrubber Review: AS5160™ Viper Walk Behind [VIDEO]

Integrating an auto floor scrubber into your cleaning routine will help enhance the look of your floor, improve hygiene, and boost worker productivity.

The size of your facility will help you determine which type of auto scrubber will allow your staff to be most productive. Larger facilities will likely require a walk-behind automatic floor scrubber.

Walk-behind floor scrubbers are available in several different sizes, models, and cleaning capacities. To help you understand some of the available walk-behind scrubbers on the market today we compared thebest 4 walk-behind floor scrubbers of 2022in a previous article. The list included the AS5160™ Viper floor scrubber.

What makes the AS5160Viper walk-behindfloor scrubber one of the best autoscrubbers?

The Viper AS5160™ is a small, versatile walk-behind floor scrubber. Equipped with a 20-inch scrub deck, the AS5160™ Viper is great for cleaning narrow hallways or aisles.

This walk-behind scrubber can be purchased as a disc or an orbital scrubber. And, it is available in either traction or non-traction drive.

In this article and video, we’ll provide an in-depth review of some of the features and benefits that make the AS5160™ Viper one of thebest walk behind automatic floor scrubbers of 2022.

Viper AS560™ Walk-Behind Floor Scrubber

Viper AS5160 Walk Behind AutoscrubberBattery-Operated

Available with maintenance-free batteries, this Viper floor scrubber provides up to 3.5 hours of run time.

With cord-free maneuverability, the operator can travel beyond the length of a cord. Cords require the operator to work around the cord and to stay within reach of an outlet. By eliminating cords, the operator can work more efficiently.

On-Board Battery Charger

Further improving convenience, the AS5160™ Viper comes standard with an on-board battery charger.

With an on-board charger, batteries can be charged at any 120V outlet for increased efficiency.

Pro Tip:When any autoscrubber is plugged into an on-board battery charger, it can not be operated.

On-board chargers allow staff to charge the machine outside of a specific charging area or station, increasing worker productivity.

This machine comes with sealed AGM batteries that are safe to be charged in any area without discharge of fumes.

Although it is convenient, staff should not charge the battery every time they have the opportunity to. This is otherwise known as “opportunity charging”. You should always charge machine batteries to 100% including cool down time before operating the machine. Opportunity charging will overheat the battery and will shorten the life of the battery.

Non-Traction Drive Or Traction Drive

This scrubber can be purchased with non-traction or traction drive.

A non-traction drive unit relies on the operator and pad to move the machine. The user must guide and push the machine forward. Non-traction drive scrubbers are good for even, flat floor areas or for operators who like full control over the movement of the machine.

On the other hand, traction drive has a motor that drives the wheels. Traction drive is perfect for floors that have inclines or ramps.

Pro Tip:With traction drive, there is reduced operator fatigue therefore boosting worker productivity.

With traction drive, the operator uses a dial to set the cruising speed. Once the speed is set, the autoscrubber moves itself, only requiring the operator to guide the machine on a cleaning path.

This machine has a maximum cruising speed of 2.5 mph. Traveling at a consistent speed also allows the scrubber to effectively clean the entire floor area at the same rate. A consistent speed will help reduce the likelihood of missed spots and the need for rework.

Traction drive is more expensive than a non-traction drive unit but the increased productivity can off-set the initial costs. When your staff can perform cleaning procedures quicker and with less fatigue, they can complete additional cleaning tasks during a shift.

Multiple Scrub Head Types

The AS5160 can be purchased with either a disc or orbital scrub head.

Disc

The disc model can be fitted with either a round (disc) pad driver with pad or brush. The ability to use either a floor pad or brush allows the operator to switch back and forth between the most effective floor pad or brush for the floor surface.

Orbital scrub heads move in fast, tight vibrations to clean the floor. Water is delivered to the floor in front of the pad versus a disc machine that delivers the water above the pad driver or brush. As a result, orbital scrubbers use 70% less chemical and water during cleaning procedures.

Orbital scrubbing also provides multi-directional scrubbing. The orbiting of the pad allows the pad to move in a multi-directional pattern, helping to clean floors better.

Multiple Solution Flow & Two Pressure Settings

For increased flexibility, the Viper AS5160 scrubber has multiple solution flow settings. The heavier pressure and water setting allows effective cleaning of tough stains and maximum worker productivity.

The lower pressure and water setting dispenses less chemical for general cleaning and reduced chemical usage.

Vacuum Motor Protection

For increased machine protection and maximum life expectancy, this scrubber is equipped with a floating ball in the solution recovery tank. The floating ball helps to protect the scrubber’s vacuum motor from liquid and debris damage. When the tank becomes full, the ball will rise to the top and block any additional liquid from entering.

Right Justified Scrub Deck

For enhanced cleaning along walls, the scrub deck has wheels on top of the pad head assembly and protrudes slightly to the right of the machine.

The wheels control how close you get to the wall and guide the machine along wall edges without damage.

Safety Start Switch

To help prevent accidental startup, there is a key and safety start switches on the machine’s handle which must be pressed before the floor scrubber will operate.

Circuit Breakers

To protect the machine motors, it is equipped with circuit breakers. Circuit breakers pop to avoid surges of energy to the motors.

Simple Control Panel
